8 am is normally the time for people to touch a new day. However, at the same time on August 3rd, Vespa’s unique engine-sound roaring on streets in Tsaotun, Nantou, Taiwan. Hundreds of Vespa riders were gathered for attending Wu Ling Summit, held by VMOD Taiwan Vespa Club. From few clues - the shinning gears, filled tanks, fastened club flags, and a big smile on riders’ faces, yes, you knew that they are ready to start the trip to conquer the highest highway, located in Mt. Hehuan, Taiwan.

“Never Compromise with Horizon” is the spirit of this Wu Ling assembly. Originally, riding to the top of mountain was simply an idea from Vespa vice president Mr. Ho and his team for testing scooters. After various tests on routes and road conditions, the satisfaction of conquering the top of mountains came almost every time. Vespa found that it could be an awesome idea to invite Vespa riders to challenge Wu Ling, a mountain possessing the highest highway in Taiwan and to give the rein to Vespa to demonstrate its uniqueness, elegance and perfect functions. Later on, a medium-size group with 60 riders was initially expected. But, surprisingly, in just three weeks, a large number of riders swarmed to register for this event and expanded the original number to four times. On August 3rd, 182 Vespas and 213 riders showed up from all over the country. Among them, the most senior rider is 80 years old, and the youngest participant is 10 years old, accompanying his father to take Wu Ling. At 12:10, when all the riders successfully arriving the peak of Wu Ling, not only the sense of self-achievement, but also a joyful fulfillment was generated since such tough target has achieved! In addition, Mr. Ho’s team also prepared hot coffee, chocolate and tea eggs as a warm welcome to Vespa riders and celebrates this memorable moment with them at Wu Ling Monument.
